You guys!! I double-triple {heart} heat transfer! It seriously is my new favorite “crafting” tool!
It is so fun and super easy to use and there are so many colors! I just love it!!
With Halloween right around the corner I used my heat transfer to make some fun Spider Pillows -
I think they turned out so darling!
Want to make your own?
First: You need to cut your pillow material to size.
I was using 16” pillows so I cu my fabric to 17” to give a half inch seam.
Second: I used my Silhouette to design and cut out my heat transfer. Be not dismayed if you do not have a silhouette – You can use the Cricut or the Lifestyles Epic Machine, or if have the talent for it – trace and use a exacto knife. Cut our any shapes you want. I wanted spiders -
Third: Iron on your heat transfer. Take off all the “bones” and then simply lay it on your cloth, using a pressing cloth (or a light scrap shirt – if you are like me) and press your transfer onto your cloth with your iron. Then simply remove the plastic coating (it peels right off!).
Fourth: To finish up the pillows, I took the material I wanted for the ruffle, ruffled it up (you can find the method here) and pinned it on. I pinned it onto the material I was using for the back.
Fifth: With right sides together, I sewed the front and back together. I left a small opening on the bottom for pillow form – flipped it right-side-out, shoved my pillow in and stitched it back together – Voila!
